Excited for your big day, but stressing out over the little things? Here are a few tips to help keep your wedding preparations stress-free.
Book Venues Early
Deciding on a venue should be your first priority when planning a wedding, especially if you have your heart set on a particular place, as available bookings tend to disappear quickly. Before you book, however, you should decide roughly how many guests you’d like to invite, to make sure the venue can accommodate everyone comfortably.
Plan to a Budget
It’s a good idea to sit down together and plan your expenses early. Talk with a friend or relative who’s planned wedding before can really help you find all the expenses you might not have considered. This will also help you to stay realistic about your budget, and ensure your perfect day doesn’t clean out your bank account. Remember to set aside part of your budget for unforseen expenses, like last-minute seamstress changes or extra food and drink. If you don’t end up needing it, that’s a bit extra spending money for your honeymoon.
Prepare Invitations and Thank You Notes Early
There’s nothing worse than having all your invitations show up in your mailbox because of insufficient postage. To avoid this, take the sealed invitations to the post office and have the staff check the weight and shape before posting them. Also, try to order your ‘thank you’ notes beforehand, so you can start hand-writing them as soon as possible. If you’d like your thankyou notes to match the invitations, ordering both at the same time is the best approach.
Catering
Make sure you arrange this early as the best caterers in Adelaide (us of course) can often be booked out during the sunnier times of year. We’ve got a large range of menu options, whether you want a traditional 3 course lunch or dinner, a more relaxed shared platter style menu (so each guest can sample a large range of dishes) or a modern BBQ or buffet, you’re certainly spoilt for choice here. Choosing will be the hardest part, we’ll take care of the rest.
Getting Ready on the Big Day
When the big day finally arrives it’s a good idea to have a friend or relative around – one who isn’t part of the wedding procession – to handle any last-minute hiccups. That way you and your bridal party can relax and have fun as you get ready. Also, it’s a good idea to set some time aside for lunch, as many people forget to eat between the ceremony, photographs, and preparing for the reception.
Don’t Lose Sight of What’s Important
Your wedding is your special day, but with all the planning and organising it can be easy to get overwhelmed. Don’t obsess over perfection if it’s making you miserable, and remember to stop every once in a while to be thankful of all the loving people you have around you.
